How to Prepare and Protect Your Office From an Active Shooter
Jackie Ford, a partner in the Vorys Houston office and a member of the labor and employment group, authored an article for the Houston Business Journal titled “How to Prepare and Protect Your Office From an Active Shooter.”
The article states:
“An ‘active shooter’ is defined by the FBI as someone ‘actively engaged’ in killing or attempting to kill people ‘in a confined or populated area,’ typically using a firearm. The number of active shooter events in the U.S. continues to increase, with the FBI reporting more active shooter incidents in 2017 than in any other year.
Threats may come from inside or outside an organization, from disgruntled employees to individuals with no connection to the organization. While no measures can entirely prevent an active shooter from attacking, there are steps employers can take to reduce the likelihood of workplace violence.”
