GDPR White Paper Reviews Risk Management Issues for U.S. Law Firms
Hinshaw's Steve Puiszis has authored a comprehensive white paper on the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), published by the ABA's Journal of the Professional Lawyer, which provides clarity on the many issues the GDPR raises for law firms and their clients in the United States. In that alert, we explained how the GDPR applies to any type of business that is established in the EU, including U.S. firms with offices in the EU. In addition, the GDPR could apply to law firms without an EU office, if the firm (i) offers goods or services to "natural persons" in the EU or (ii) monitors the behavior of persons in the EU.
