Biography
Mr. Puello-Alvarez’s main areas of practice include real estate, hospitality, and corporate law. He practices in various aspects of hotel and resort development, tourism development incentives, purchase and sale of businesses, corporate reorganizations and corporate governance.
He counsels clients on matters dealing with the creation, operation, expansion, purchase and sale of businesses, the application for tourism development incentives and sale of tax credits, the planning and drafting of merger and acquisition agreements, the drafting and negotiation of leases and hotel managements agreements, as well as the development of master planned communities, resorts and other tourism developments.
Mr. Puello-Álvarez currently teaches a Legal Research and Writing course at the University of Puerto Rico School of Law. He also used co-teach the Corporations Law course. He is a Collaborating Academic of the Academia Puertorriqueña de Jurisprudencia y Legislación de Puerto Rico and member of the Advisory Board of ProTechos Inc. He is also an active participant of the Firm’s Pro-Bono Program, advising non-profit and tax-exempt organizations in corporate governance.
He actively participates in the Firm's Pro Bono Program by providing services for not-for-profit organizations and annually offers a seminar to Fundación Angel Ramos regarding Practices of Good Governance in Not-for-Profit Organizations.
While in law school, he served as Editor of the University of Puerto Rico Law Review and served as student law clerk to Associate Justice Luis F. Estrella Martínez of the Puerto Rico Supreme Court. He has published one article: Radiografía de la Rama Ejecutiva à la Winston Churchill: Un estudio sobre democracia, 85 Rev. Jur. UPR 1069 (2016).

- Counseling and creation of Grantor Trusts for the acquisition of insurance claims resulting from the damages by Hurricanes Irma and Maria.
- Development, structuring, financing, construction and operation of the El Distrito T-Mobile entertainment center and its numerous commercial components.
- Acquisition, operation and renovation of the Marina de Salinas Hotel & Marina.
- Application for tax concessions and sale of tax credits for countless hotel, resort, entertainment and other tourism developments.
