Overview
To celebrate our 75 years of continuous leadership and innovation, we are reaffirming our longstanding dedication to the well-being of our cherished community by establishing the McConnell Valdés Foundation. This non-profit entity is tasked with a mission to advance social justice and community service initiatives that benefit groups and sectors in need. The Foundation will support communities and people in need by overseeing opportunities, programs, and initiatives in the core areas of access to justice, the arts, education, health, conservation, and community development.
Some of the initiatives already set in motion and which reflect the Foundation’s mission are our Pro Bono Program, which epitomizes our abiding sense of social responsibility, and the McConnell Valdés/Antonio Escudero Viera Scholarship. Established in 2006, the McConnell Valdés Pro Bono Program was the first such institutional program in Puerto Rico. Since then, it has provided free legal services to not-for-profits of limited means that serve the communities in which we live and work. The McConnell Valdés/Antonio Escudero Viera Scholarship, established in 2016 to mark our 70 years of leadership has provided financial aid to several University of Puerto Rico School of Law students.
Throughout our 75-year history we have allocated more than $3 million to support leading cultural, educational and health-related nonprofit organizations. In 2018, to help mitigate the catastrophic effects of hurricanes Irma and Maria, we also established the McV Disaster Relief Fund to support non-profit organizations with initiatives and programs in communities in dire need of basic human services. Today, through the McConnell Valdés Foundation, we seek to continue to augment the social impact of our charitable contributions and pro bono legal services.
The McConnell Valdés Foundation, simply put, will always look ahead – in order to lead the way to an ever brighter future for Puerto Rico.
