Vorys Attorney Jonathan Stock Appointed to a Three-Year Term on the Third Frontier Commission
Vorys, Sater, Seymour and Pease attorney Jonathan K. Stock was recently appointed by Ohio Governor Mike DeWine to a three-year term on the Third Frontier Commission. Third Frontier is an internationally recognized, technology-based economic development initiative that works with innovate startup companies to help make Ohio a more attractive destination for technology entrepreneurs.
The purpose of the commission is to coordinate and administer science and technology programs to maximize the growth of the state through expansion of its high technology research and development capabilities and its product and process innovation and commercialization.
The commission includes 11 members and is supported by the Ohio Department of Development (ODOD), for which Jon previously served as chief legal counsel. Among the commission’s members are the director of ODOD, the chief executive officer of JobsOhio, the chancellor of the Ohio Department of Higher Education, and a number of other high-ranking government, educational and corporate officials.
While serving the ODOD, Jon oversaw programs involving tax credits, grants, loans, workforce training, export assistance, small business centers, minority business services, support for technology and innovation companies, support for energy efficiency and need-based energy assistance, and TourismOhio. Today, as of counsel in Vorys’ Columbus office, Jon is a member of the tax group and focuses his practice on helping clients identify and utilize economic development incentives, tax incentives and economic development financing mechanisms to create both jobs and economic growth.
