Karen A. Cincione

Karen is a principal for Vorys Advisors LLC, an ancillary business of Vorys.  She advises Ohio and national clients on legislative and executive agency matters.

Karen is an Ohio registered lobbyist and provides government relations counsel to clients in a variety of industries.  She advocates for clients interested in matters before the Ohio General Assembly and Ohio executive agencies, boards and commissions.

Vorys Advisors often works with Vorys clients to assist them with a wide variety of government relations needs.  For example, throughout the pandemic, Karen was part of a multi-disciplinary Vorys team that assisted clients with issues related to whether and how they could continue to operate; when and how they could reopen if they had shut down all or part of their businesses; and addressed ongoing concerns regarding post pandemic operations related to the recovery, remote work and workforce issues.  

Before joining Vorys Advisors, Karen practiced law at Vorys as a member of the firm’s government relations and health care practice groups.  As a Vorys health care attorney,  Karen represented behavioral health and other health care providers in matters related to contracting, privacy, licensure, certification, accreditation and other regulatory issues.

Karen began her career as a public sector attorney.  She served as chief counsel for the former Ohio Department of Alcohol and Drug Addiction Services, where she provided government relations counsel and advised the director and department staff regarding regulatory and compliance issues, rule-making, privacy, state contracting, public records, open meetings and other public law issues.  Prior to that, Karen served as an assistant attorney general, where she represented the Ohio Department of Transportation and other state agencies in litigation, public contracting, rule-making, sunshine laws other matters.

Karen has made presentations on pandemic issues as well as a number of health care and privacy issues.

Karen received her J.D. from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Law and her B.A. cum laude from Miami University.
